Onanuga challenges Peter Obi: ‘Are you wishing death on Tinubu?’ regarding the presidential aircraft
Bayo Onanuga, President Bola Tinubu’s special adviser on information and strategy, criticized Peter Obi for his comments about buying a new presidential plane.
A committee in the house of representatives suggested that the government should buy new planes for President Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima. This recommendation came after they looked into the current state of the presidential aircraft.
Peter Obi opposed this proposal, saying it shows that the government is out of touch with the people. He believes the money should be spent on helping citizens instead.
In response, Onanuga argued that getting a new plane is necessary for the president’s safety. He questioned if Obi wants the president to risk his life by flying in an old, unsafe plane. Onanuga pointed out that the current plane was bought over 20 years ago during former President Obasanjo’s time and is now small and unreliable.
He mentioned that during a recent trip to Saudi Arabia, the plane had issues, forcing the president to fly commercially to the UK. Those in charge of the plane have said it needs to be replaced.
