Kylian Mbappé will be seen wearing a mask after breaking his nose during the Austria match.
Kylian Mbappe broke his nose during France’s 1-0 win against Austria on Monday.
The injury happened when Mbappe ran into Austria’s Kevin Danso during the match in Düsseldorf.
After the collision, Mbappe was clearly hurt and had to leave the game.
France coach Didier Deschamps wasn’t sure if Mbappe could continue playing in the tournament after the match.
Mbappe was quickly taken to a hospital in Düsseldorf, where doctors confirmed his injury.
The French Football Federation said he won’t need surgery right away and will get treatment. They will make a special mask for him so he can think about playing again after his treatment.
The injury occurred when Mbappe’s face hit Danso’s shoulder, causing his nose to bleed and swell.
Austria’s goalkeeper Patrick Pentz called for medical help as soon as he saw Mbappe was hurt.
Despite this, Mbappe stayed positive and joked about needing a mask on social media, posting, “Any ideas for masks?” on X (formerly Twitter).
France announced that Mbappe has rejoined the team at their training camp, suggesting he might play again soon with a protective mask.
