Michael Essien’s properties to be auctioned by court order in Ghana
Two houses owned by former Chelsea and Ghana midfielder Michael Essien will be auctioned off after a court order from the Accra High Court.
The court’s Deputy Sheriff ordered the sale on June 12, 2024, after a recent ruling against Essien.
The Daily Guide reports that the houses are located at Stephen Quarshie Crescent in East Legon and at Trassaco (Phase 2) in Adjiringano, both in Accra.
One of the houses is worth between $20 million and $30 million.
Essien’s financial problems are due to large loans he took from various banks and financial institutions in Ghana, according to Africa Soccer.
Essien, now 41, played for top clubs like Chelsea, Real Madrid, AC Milan, and Lyon during his career.
